What the Midheaven means in a birth chart
The Midheaven, or MC, is a calculated angle where the ecliptic meets the upper meridian. In astrology it is associated with public contribution, visibility, and direction. It is not a planet or a career forecast. In Whole Sign houses, the MC has its own sign and house and does not have to sit in house ten.

An angle has a different job from a planet
A planet is a physical body with a calculated position. The Midheaven is a direction defined by the relationship between the local meridian and the zodiac. The Ascendant is another angle, located at the eastern horizon. Time and location are essential to both.
The distinction helps when reading a table. A row labeled MC describes a geometric point. It does not add another planet to the ten-body list or represent a body sending a separate influence. Its symbolic role comes from the astrological framework.
Read public direction as a question
A Midheaven interpretation can explore what you want your contribution to stand for, how public responsibility feels, or what kind of work you find worth developing. Those questions extend beyond a job title and can include unpaid, creative, family, or community commitments.
It cannot establish which occupation you must choose or predict recognition. If a description feels narrow, broaden the setting before deciding it has to define you. The chart is a way to consider a question, while your circumstances and choices supply the substance.
Why the tenth house can be somewhere else
Whole Sign houses begin with the rising sign and count complete signs from there. The MC is calculated separately. Its sign can therefore occupy a Whole Sign house other than the tenth. A wheel that forces it to the tenth-house boundary would conceal that difference.
Our paid chart lists the MC longitude, sign, and house independently. The reading can discuss tenth-house topics and MC aspects without claiming they are identical. When comparing another app, first check whether its tenth cusp is defined by a quadrant-house convention.
Time quality matters here
An unknown birth time does not support a precise MC. An approximate time requires checking its sign, house, and aspect membership across the entire window, along with the rest of the advertised chart. A plausible-looking center-time marker is not evidence that those features stayed stable.
Use the local clock time from a reliable record and let the form resolve the historical offset. If the record falls in a repeated or skipped local-time interval, the explicit choice step matters to the angles as well as to the planetary positions.
Questions people ask
What does my Midheaven mean?
The Midheaven, or MC, is the point of the zodiac at the top of the chart, where the ecliptic crosses the local meridian at your birth time. Astrologers associate it with public life, reputation, and the direction of your contribution, rather than a specific job. Its sign describes the style of that contribution. It needs an accurate birth time, because the MC moves through every sign in about a day.
