Rising Sign Calculator
Your rising sign, or Ascendant, is the zodiac sign on the eastern horizon at birth. Find it with your birth date, birth time, and birthplace. A rising sign needs a birth time. Without one, this free calculator shows supported Sun and Moon signs and leaves rising unknown.
Your progress stays in this tab when you switch calculators.
Why the clock matters
The horizon moves through the zodiac as Earth turns, so a small time difference can change your rising sign. Enter the time from a birth record when possible. If you only know an approximate time, choose a window so the calculator can check what stays consistent throughout it.
Questions before you calculate
What is my rising sign?
Your rising sign is the tropical zodiac sign rising on the eastern horizon at your birth moment and location. Enter your birth date, local time, and birthplace above to calculate it. Your Sun sign alone cannot tell you your rising sign.
Can I find my rising sign without a birth time?
A date and place cannot establish your rising sign. Choose “I don’t know” for useful Sun and Moon information instead. We check the whole local day and show possible signs when a placement changes. We do not fill in a noon rising sign.
Is rising the same as Ascendant?
Yes. Rising sign names the sign containing the Ascendant. The Ascendant itself is an exact angle, while its sign is one of twelve equal tropical zodiac sectors.
What if my birth time is approximate?
Choose Approximate time and the uncertainty window you can support. We check the whole interval for changes. A complete reading is available only when the required placements, houses, and aspect memberships stay consistent.
Where can I find my birth time?
Check a detailed birth certificate, hospital record, or a family record made at the time. Availability varies by place. If records are unavailable, keep the time unknown instead of choosing a time that produces a preferred sign.
