How do I find my Moon sign?
Enter your birth date, local birth time, and birthplace in the calculator. We resolve the historical time zone and calculate the Moon’s tropical sign. If you do not know the time, select that option and we check the whole local birth day.
Do I need my exact birth time for my Moon sign?
A known time gives a specific Moon position. Without it, the Moon sign can still be established if it stays in the same sign throughout your local birth day. On a day when it changes sign, we show the possibilities.
Why is my Moon sign different from my Sun sign?
The Sun and Moon occupy different positions in the sky and move at different rates. Each has its own tropical zodiac sign at your birth. They can match, but neither determines the other.
Does birthplace affect the Moon sign?
Birthplace identifies the historical time zone for your local date and time. LunarOtter uses geocentric planetary positions. It does not apply a topocentric Moon correction based on your position on Earth.
